Fishing is supposed to be a relaxing activity. You imagine yourself in a boat slowly drifting along the current and you have your line cast nicely. Ah, the perfect getaway. But aside from being a form of leisure, fishing can also be competitive. Year after year, people take their chances in hooking that giant. It's a very scientific hobby for some and they employ different methods and trinkets that help them in their fishing. But honestly, how do others make it? How do they land big fishes every now and then? I will list some of the most basic things you can do to increase your chances. Take note that these things are not an assurance that you will land that big fish you have always been dreaming of. 1. Know your enemy- If there was one surefire way to increase your chances, it would be knowledge. You must get to know the fish you are targeting. You must realize that in catching different species of fish you must have a different approach for each one. So try to read some books or stuff on the internet about certain tips and suggestions for different occasions. You might want to consider the specific time of day a certain fish hunts or what it eats or how it hunts. Knowing all these things will create all the difference. 2. Be patient - Fishing has always been a hobby that centers not on technique but on patience. In the olden days and even until today, a big bag of patience is a key requirement in every fishing trip. You must remember that it is still the prerogative of the fish to bite, if it ain't in the mood to bite then no amount of technology or technique can make it. 3. Be organized - Keep your tackle box and everything else organized. This will not directly affect your chances of hooking a big catch but its way better to know where you keep the stuff when you need them. Also, you need to keep all the hooks sharpened at all times. You can always keep a box full of hooks but make sure all of them are sharp enough to do their job. 4. Never give up- There is nothing in this world that can assure you of a big catch. If you see all that new stuff for sale that says they can help you catching the big fish, most of the time they don't. Fishing is not an exact science where 1+1=2. Most of the time, things just don't add up when fishing. You might be using the worst gear but you can still have a chance with the big ones. Fish often, so you get more of a chance. Remember, there will be days when you get home empty-handed, but there will also be days when you will come home with a giant. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/6671986
